History

This site have a long history, not as long as some other sites, but right now I will try to introduce you to the site history. When I was 14 I started to upload my first pages and sites in the Internet, there were about all my interests, but non of the sites were visited. Then I decided to make a Verve website, because I saw there was a need of a site full of news and information about the band. I was remembering that day when I created the site: I was walking my way from school to home and I decided to create a Verve website.

On February, 20th 2002, the site was first launched! It was hosted by geocities and I only had 15MB of free space, but for that time there was way enough. I was always thinking about my site and I wanted to grow and grow. And the site really grew and grew from day to day, week to week. I made the site and I updated the site all alone. Then some people started helping me with small details. As a consequence of being alone, I didn't update the site everyday, there were periods that the site were not updated for weeks even months, but I knew I had already visitors and visited the site regular so I wanted to keep my site up-to-date. Thanks to the people from the verve groups in yahoo and Richard Ashcroft official and unofficial forums. This site started to be popular and more and more people visited it, and because of this the site grew and grew and one day the site reached its limit of 15MB. Then i started to chat with my friend Juan and that's the rest of the history...

By Dimitar Klaturov.

One day i was talking with Mitko about the site and I told him that the site had very pool design. He knew that already, but he told me he hadn't a good designer and that he couldn't think of something. He had reached the top of his html knowledge :D Then I offered him to work and think about some design and if he liked it, I would make the whole design of the site. Well, he liked it. I did a wonderful job! :D The-verve.net was launched in April 2004.

The site became more and more visited and more and more people know about the band. A lot of people wanted to help to the site to keep on growing and not to stand on the same plane and die. We hosted the site with the help of Simon and the domain the-verve.net but a few months ago, around August 2004, we had to leave it. The site was, fortunately, back up in my PC so we didn't lost the work.

Months were passing and almost a year later we decided to buy a new domain and update the website around April 2005. A lot of new contents have been added as the structure of the page was re-designed and checked by my friend Rodrigo, an experienced webmaster. The design is easy, most of it with html in order to get a fast navigation with any browser.

We tried to buy the old .net domain but it was lost. Another company bought it, to make money as usuall happens in Internet so we finally bought in June 2005 www.the-verve.info domain that we think it's great because in the end this is an INFO page.

In 2005 christmas was released another re-designed version of the site with HTML and JAVA combination for the design plus more material.

In 2006 I had to pay the total amount of the domain renew. I don't know whether I will continue beyond 2007 with this site or not, so meanwhile, enjoy it and enjoy listening The Verve.

2007 and Mitko is back. He has paid the domain this year, hopefully next year will be a 50/50 :p
