This english band was born in 1989, in Wigan, formed by the vocalist Richard Ashcroft, the guitarist Nick McCabe, the bass player Simon Jones and the drummer Peter Salesbury. At the very begining it was known by the name “Verve”

The group always showed clear musical influences from the 70’s when writting music: The Troggs, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Jam...

Their first singles like “She’s A Superstar” and “blue” archieved a great acceptation and their first album production edited in june of 1993 reached a huge success in England. The trouble started when they tryed to release the album in the U.S. They had to deal with a legal problem which ended with the chage of the name of the band, after that moment they would become “The Verve”.

In 1994 a compilation of inedit singles was released under the name “No Come Down”, it is also during this year when they edited their second album “Norther Soul” which reached the top 20 charts of best sellers

in England. Though they stood in the top of sucess, the band splited in the summer of 1995 due to personal and creative diferences.

then, each member will try to make their own way and they’ve got to release some songs, being Richard Ashcroft  (vocalist of The Verve) the must successful one during this period.

In 1997 the band went back together again and they started working in their third album “Urban Hymns”  which launched The Verve to fame in Europe.

But this only lasted for 2 years more. In april of 1999 Richard Ashcroft decides to leave the band. He explained to the media that he did not want “others to bring down the job he does”. Is in this moment when his last album “Alone With Everybody” was released.
