| well, just got back, and was actually re-reading my post
from november after I saw the show in atlanta. made me sad, as verve used to
be a good band. damn good band. anyway, tonight was good. really good. excellent sound, for the most part. trouble was, they had the wrong name printed on the ticket. i thoroughly enjoyed the "Richard Ashcroft showcase", but was puzzled as i thought i was there to see the verve. call me a whiner all you want. i should embrace the band for the present etc. well, whatever. fuck it. weeping willow was where it was most evident. the casual wash of white noise that nick lays over that song, sometimes not even bothering to change chords, was completely absent. instead it was some kind of bullshit syncopated strum-a-long. sucked. this time was good. other than that the set was the same as always. gotta admit that the middle section with drugs>>history>>one day and something else just about put me to sleep. one fun thing - kate played keyboards on the first two tracks - space and time and sonnet. i was standing by the mixing board, and after those two songs she came back to the mixing board to watch the show. she got lost in the crowd and ended up standing right by me until she could get her bearings. I re-introduced myself from when I met her in atlanta in november, and was stunned speechless when she didn't remember me. anyway - she looked real nice. little baby-blue dress, and those Ashcroft rose-colored shades. had her hair in two braids (is that called a french braid). I had as much fun watching her wiggle her toes to the songs as i did watching the band. |
