| As many of you know, The Verve did several shows on the second stage at Lollapalooza. I was fortunate enough to be one of those lucky people who got to see them. We found out what time they were going to be on, and we waited over at the second stage for their performance. I was front row center when they finally came out. The Lollapalooza atmosphere sucks, and they were playing in the heat of midday. Despite all of this, they absolutely kicked ass. The bands on the main stage were not worth paying for, but The Verve made the $30 tickets worth while. The people that saw them with me agreed that the Verve show was the highlight of the whole day. They show consisted of all of their more upbeat material. They played Blue, Slide Away, Star Sail, etc. They played Gravity Grave and it was the absolute greatest live song I have ever heard. Simon's bass line is so powerful. After the show, he was my favorite band member; he rocks. They also played stuff that I eventually heard on Northern Soul. They played This Is Music, No Knock On My Door, and A New Decade. They may have played some other stuff, but I didn't write it down. I just sat back and enjoyed the greatest concert I have ever witnessed. They rule, and I hope to see them again some day. |
