Pinkpop Festival Landgraaf,NE (Jun/01/1998)

From: Oliver Tucker

Have just returned from Pinkpop and we are back in the UK after seeing spiritualized and the verve through a thick skunk haze in the south of Holland.

Spiritualized kicked arse. I have now seen the Verve quite a few times and I have to say that the "new" UH songs are wearing thin live and dont seem to have the same potential for the band just to jam anymore. Richard kept repeating stuff he said at the Wigan do and he even did that bit from Sly and the family stone ("Thankyou for letting me be myself").

The dutch crowd loved every minute of it but I think they were generally into the first two albums and a girl I spoke to said she was disappointed they did not play more than the three songs they did (This is music, History and Lifes an Ocean).

I also think they should scrap playing Velvet Morning as its crap, but that is just the opinion of a slowly aging verve fan.

Anyway, It was f**kin great!
