| I'm pretty sure it was March 13, but anyway, I saw
Richard at the Paramount theatre in NYC at Madison Square Garden supporting
Oasis. He did three acoustic numbers: I think they were Sonnet, Space and
Time, and The drugs don't work. Unfortunately, I didn't quite know exactly
who he was at the time, but really dug him and got into the verve
immediately after. He got on the stage and said something like: "Hope you
all know that this is the fucking center of the world." Then he held up the
red acoustic Takimine guitar (the same one that Noel later used) and said
something like: "This is the same one Noels gonna use" or something like that. He also said "You probably don't know who I am. But I was in the verve, could have been the biggest band in the world..." As far as I know, this is the last time Richard has done anything live, since I heard he didn't show up at the scheduled shows he was supposed to: like Earl's Court. Someone else I talked to said that he sang "Sonic," but that sounds an awful lot like "Sonnet," so I'd be that's it. Unfortunately, I didn't get him on tape, but I have been searching for someone who did. If anyone did tape him: PLEASE EMAIL ME!! Anyway, the oasis show was great, and I did tape that if anyone wants a copy. Cheers. |
