Joined The Verve in late 1995 and left The Verve in 1999
He was in the band Shining with fellow Verve member, Simon Jones.

Tong also
has replaced Graham Coxon for
Blur's
live performances, which include a full UK tour starting at
Glasgow Barrowlands '03.
Tong has been in rehearsals in
London with
Damon Albarn,
Alex James and
Dave Rowntree preparing for live
shows later in the year (2003).
Damon Albarn said: "He's not replacing
Graham, because he can't be replaced," the source told
NME.COM. "He will be playing live
with them at shows later this year, and they have been rehearsing for the
last few weeks together."
He
played the guitar in
Cathey Davey's first album called "Something ILK" It's said that Simon
Jones had heard one of her early demos, and he got Simon Tong involved.
Tong contributed to the
second
Gorillaz album, Demon Days as
you can see
here and
is the main guitarrist of Damon Albarn's new band that is going to release
the album "The good, the ugly and the queen" in January of 2007.
